We hold monthly, pop-up secret sales – with hand selected, stylish, designer and high-end high street, second-hand clothes at affordable prices.
We carefully collect good quality, good condition, stylish second-hand clothes. Pieces that in some cases may have only been worn once. Our mission is to help these clothes find a new home – helping to build stylish wardrobes, prolong the life of clothes and save clothes from ending up in landfill.
Types of brands we sell at the secret sales:
Whistles, The Kooples, Cos and the occasional designer item.
We also host regular workshops at our sales. These can range from session with a stylist to how to repair and upcycle clothes. We release information about the workshops ~one month ahead of time.

What We Buy
We buy women’s clothing and accessories in excellent condition from high-end high-street brands. If it’s recent, clean and shows no signs of wear and tear will are likely to buy it from you.
We don’t buy more ubiquitous brands such as Zara, H&M, Mango and Topshop as we feel these are affordable enough already. If we can’t buy the items from you on the day we can take them and donate them for charity for you instead. That way you still benefit from more space in your wardrobe. We’ll also give you a 5% off voucher to say thanks.
We’re always on the lookout for: Jeans; Shirts; Dresses; Shoes; Sweaters and Jackets; Shorts and Skirts; Designer; and some Vintage.

Why do we do it?
Our goal is to reduce the amount of clothes that end up in landfill. We believe that there is value in our wardrobes that we are not benefitting from. We hope that we can help people to buy fewer new clothes and fall in love with second hand shopping. We also believe that by creating space in our wardrobes we’ll use more of what we have and maybe even save some money along the way.
What’s in it for me?
More space in your wardrobe. A study completed by Save Your Wardrobe, showed that in London we wear 15% of the clothes in our wardrobes. We are offering the opportunity to create some space in your wardrobe by taking away some of the 85% of clothes that you don’t wear. From experience, we know that when you can see all of your clothes you’re much more likely to wear more of them! Wearing more of what you own saves money, saves time spent shopping and is more sustainable. Win, win, win!
A good feeling that you haven’t sent clothes to landfill. London has run out of landfill space. We are working to try and reduce clothes heading to landfill. So instead of putting clothes in the bin, bring along your clothes to one of our secret sales. Let us buy them from you – a little bit of cash for you and a bright shiny feel good factor.
A wardrobe clear-out without the hassle. It takes the shine off a wardrobe clear-out to have bags of clothes sitting around taking up space. Somehow there never quite seems the time to give them to a friend / sell them online / take them to a charity shop. Let us help you have that feeling of satisfaction of a completed wardrobe detox.
What clothes do you not accept for purchase?
We currently don’t buy:
Underwear, tights, swimwear, stud or pierced earrings, bridal wear, menswear, children’s wear, home wear or bric a brac.
Who do we donate the clothes to?
We have chosen three charities to donate to all based near us in North London. They are:
The Harington Scheme
The Harington Scheme provides a unique opportunity for young adults with learning disabilities and/or difficulties, delivering individual learning programmes designed to help them into employment, further education or a more rewarding life.
Set up as a charity by the local community over thirty years ago, we’re located on a unique and beautiful site in Highgate, North London.
The North London Hospice
North London Hospice is a registered charity and has been caring for local people since 1984. We help those with a potentially life-limiting illness who have specialist needs. Care is provided to help them physically, emotionally and spiritually. We try to help our patients live life to the full despite their illness. We treat people as individuals and respect their personal beliefs, lifestyle and culture. The Hospice is multi-faith and welcomes patients from all faiths and communities. Emotional and practical support is also offered to patients’ families, friends and carers. Our services are provided free of charge by specially trained multi-professional teams, which include doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, social workers, counsellors and chaplains.
Smart Works began, at what is still our Smart Works HQ, in North London. From here, we see over 1000 women every year, from every borough in the city, helping them with the clothes and the confidence they need for job success.
In 2013, we expanded our service in London by opening a second office in Ladbroke Grove in West London, with its own dressing room and interview coaching space. Our West London branch is thriving, opening five days a week, and delivering over 800 appointments in the last year.
We are incredibly proud to report that in both our London offices, our success rate remains at over one in two of the clients we are able to contact going on to succeed at their job interview.
What items do you accept?
Currently we only accept women’s adult clothing. We would love to expand to men and kids clothing in the future but don’t have the storage capacity at the moment.
We ask that all clothes are clean. It makes it much easier to give clothes a new home that way. In general, we ask you to think whether someone else would like to wear the item(s) that you want to sell.
We look for relatively recent or timeless clothes that will make a great addition to someone else wardrobe. We also put clothes straight out on to the sale so look for items that are right for the season. In other words, woollens in Winter and shorts in Summer.
We buy high-end high-street brands. The types of brands we buy include Whistles, Cos, Reiss, American Apparel, & Other Stories, LK Bennett. In general, we look for items that are excellently made and will stand the test of time.
We don’t buy some of the more ubiquitous high street brands including; Zara, Mango, Topshop, Primark, or H&M. We feel that these brands don’t tend to offer much value for resale. We also think they are quite readily available at your local charity shop.
